Follow along and we will show you how to do a quick styling of a console table. Check out video on instagram & facebook!
Facebook: @laurelgrove
Let's get started!
We are styling the Brynn Console Table, available online and in store!
First step, add some lamps! We chose the Issac Lamp to give it a simple yet unique look. They add height and a bit of color to the design. We added one on either side to add some symmetry and to anchor the space. You can shop other lighting too!
Now, let's move on to adding accessories!
Next we added three Juggling Pins. Choosing to group things in sets of three is always a good way to approach a design project. To add a different textural element, we are using one of the Blue Short Vases with a Faux Succulent Stem. This grouping completes one side of the console table.
For the other side we chose a Carafe Bottle Vase, with a grouping of faux stems, and set it on top of a Found Wood Riser. To complete the look, we added some White Wood Bead Garland and an Oyster Shell Candle. This candle adds another texture and some amazing aroma.
The final touch was adding The Gift of Gathering, by our friend Bre. Having the book open creates an inviting look.
Our console table has a bottom shelf that has a lot of space for decorative elements. A large basket is perfect for extra storage and hiding the outlet behind it. We used the medium Shore Basket.
We kept the look on either side of the basket airy by using another Carafe Bottle Vase, White Wood Bead Garland and a live succulent. Notice that we used this bottle on the opposite side of the similar one used on the top of the console.
The look was competed on the other side with a white frame and live plant.
Not ready to tackle this on your own? We are offering free Virtual Design Consults. You can email us your console (or any other area you want help with), or we can have a FaceTime call, and we will send you a design board with product recommendations and placement.
Stay safe everyone!
]]>Here are a few tips before we get started....
1. Measure your shelves!! Height is always the issue
2. Styling shelves take a lot of inventory and products... more than you think.
3. Always have books to help add height and dimension!
Now onto how I styled my shelves with all Laurel Grove Items!
First, I like to start with the top shelf and then work my way down. My top shelf is my tallest one allowing to use taller items.
On this shelf for the first part I used one of our most popular Reclaimed Wood Layer Framed. You can keep it blank or add a picture of the family... if you really like them that much. I choose to keep it blank (Sorry Mom & Dad). I added a Ticco Pot with a faux airplant to tie in the blue with the frame and add some fresh greens to the space. I added a final touch with a paper mache apple, giving it another natural element.
Now onto the other side, I started out with the vase with a faux succulent (again adding in a fresh green) inside the vase. Then layed down the brass antler, adding another color to the space (Which we saw a lot of in Atlanta). Lastly, I had to add something vintage to the space, these two vintage soda bottles tie in with the blue colored vase.
The next shelf, I choose my newest obsession, these white stonewares vases. I used the medium and small ones due to the height of the large being to big for my shelves. I placed them on top of Gift Of Gathering Book to add some height and dimension to the vases. You could use any book new or vintage!
On this side, I brought back in a brass element like the shelf above and brought in another picture frame. I choose a clean marble picture frame, brass planter (size small), a pickling jar filled with dried lion's ear flowers.
Lastly, the bottom shelf I used another brass planter (size large) with a chippy handmade candle holder. Then, added the final touch of a wood beaded garland draped throughout the planter and candle holder.
Last but not least, I added my favorite pot, the shabby pot with some real greens from Salvage Succulents.

Well everyone I am sure you have heard that I got my own apartment! Adulting really starts now. I know not every 22-year-old would have an apartment look like this, but what can you say when your mom owns a shop. What is even better, is you can shop my apartment right now?! I will take you through each room!
Kitchen
The Cabinet is from an antique store called Home at the Cooperage. You may know the owner by his fabulous mirrors and maps at Laurel Grove. (P.S They are still 25% off)
Dish Rack; is from Laurel Grove. It is honestly so fabulous because I don’t have a dishwasher and it holds some many dishes! It also makes chores a little bit better with the vintage inspired look.
Eat Sign, is from Laurel Grove. The patina on this sign is ‘oh so amazing’ and completes an empty wall in just a few seconds.
This CAFE Fried Green Tomato Metal Sign is a reminder of down-home cooking. This large metal CAFE sign will be an enormous display of farmhouse style decor, and will be the focal point wherever it hangs. It's a pop of purely delightful color with embossed letters and distressed finish. Enjoy this kitchen sign's color, rustic style, and delicious message.
Dining Room
Reclaimed Table; You should hear the story on these tables. Well they are folding tables that we thought would be great to have for pro.found market. They arrived and as soon as I opened the box I had to have it. The patina on the table is so cool!
Decorative Metal Scale, This rustic vintage-inspired metal scale is a must have for any modern farmhouse style home! Its details are a reminder of days gone by. We love how versatile it is too - whether you want to use it as the centerpiece of a decorative vignette or you want to store soaps and hand towels in the bathroom, it works WONDERFULLY. This is an item that can travel from room to room and get use all over your home! I choose to complete the look on my dining room table with some candle rings from Purple Rose Home.
Living Room,
Couch, is from Ikea. However it looks pretty I do not recommend it for big couch sitters. I wish it was more fluffy. But this is a newly adult budget couch!
Side Tables, Serving as the perfect addition to your favorite sitting spot, the Eli side table features a rustic finish. Simple in design yet full of character, this side table is ideal for holding your cup of coffee or newspaper.
Lamps, Lawson Table Lamp is the perfect end table lamp or any place you need a little illumination. Great in finish and styling, this will add the perfect amount of style to the smallest of spaces.
Chunky Knit Throw, You guys this throw is worth every penny. I know some people (including myself) look at the price of this throw and RUN away. But, It is honestly so comfy and cozy. And the best is the cat loves it (LOL).
Bedroom
I wanted to go with matching bedside tables that were simple but yet had a little color to these. Each set will vary but they are overall a wood tone nightstand with a blue/whitewash look on top.
Headboard; is a bronze "iron inspired" bed. I wanted to go with a metal bed to tie in the other metal tones I have in my chairs in the living room.
Bathroom
Wall Decor, Fire Wall Bucket. This also adds a metal tone to add throughout the apartment is also great for storage. I roll up my towels and put them in the baskets. It can also be used for toilet paper or just for a cool abstract wall decor piece.
Wire Cradle Basket, This rustic little soap/sponge/scrubby holder looks like it came straight out of the past. Brand new and fully functional, you will find tons of uses from keeping your sponge handy to storing your bar of soap. It stands just over 4" tall (not including the decorative rods on the sides) and the basket itself is 5" x 3 1/2" x 2 1/4". The "rust" is actually a painted on finish.
Small Accessories
White Pitcher, I have the large and small in my kitchen. I use the large pitcher for all my kitchen utensils and the small one Kristy from Salvage Succulents planted a succulent in one for me. The both of them pair together makes a simple but yet elegant touch to the kitchen.
If you know me, I am not the best at keeping plants alive. Even though I have a few real ones and I also have some faux plants knowing those won't die. If you see on my fireplaces I have these beautiful eucalyptus sprays in the jars. I have about 3 in one jar and 2 in the other.
Just a lamp on a side table doesn't do justice. So I have added some small accessories to them. Here is few
These crocks will add vintage charm to your kitchen, bathroom, or office décor. You can use the three stoneware crocks to store kitchen utensils, grooming essentials, writing implements, and more. The crocks are also oven, microwave, and dishwasher safe for cooking.
A classic farmhouse loop with a delicate crocheted lace and jute twine tassel. Finished with a rustic jute twine tassel. Looks great looped on a vase, hung on a hallway hook or to finish off a rustic fall vignette.

]]>2019 is the year we welcome back brass accents into our homes. Brass is a surprisingly warm and subtle alternative to the expected steel and nickel accents. These are an item you will be able to use in every room of the house- think dining tables, mantle decor, or shelf vignettes.
Indigo, a natural blue dye that adds a perfect accent color. Indigo decor allows you to create a distinctive environment for your decor. This home furnishing touch can be used to evoke moods or represent certain decorating styles. This versatility has made it one of the most popular colors in home décor for hundreds of years.
One MUST have to hype up your home is soft, cozy textures - and we can't think of anything better than fur rugs. There's nothing better than returning home to your cozy space, kicking off your shoes and being welcomed by a warm, comfortable setting completed by a warm fur rug.

Another way to get right into that calm, serene space is to focus on comfort and textures. The concept of hygge is considered a defining characteristic of Danish culture has become quite mainstream. The term refers to a "quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being" (Oxford Dictionaries). Comforting scents as well as textiles can help embody this concept.
Rely on some new pillows or a soft and cozy throw to bring some comfort and texture into your space! We've got quite a nice collection in shop and online now!

1. This keep out scroll is subtly scary with the skull and crossbones and casual warning without being too over the top!

3. On the scarier (ish), but more fun, side there has been a skeleton making his rounds on social media and we love seeing how different people are styling him! From scary to silly and everything in between, this guy could provide entertainment for your family and neighbors year after year!
This guy by @creative.n.caffeinated is a little confused about the holidays, but is gracing Alecia's Home all the same!
Laura, from @threesonsfarmhouse, went the more traditional Halloween route and adorned her Skelly with a witch hat! Loving her fall warm colors and decor!

We believe Halloween should be a fun holiday - regardless if you and yours like scary or more tame decor! There is room for it all!
]]>I once was completely anti-faux. However, those feelings have evolved as have the products in the faux greens and stems category.
We absolutely love our live succulents in the shop. Kristy, from Salvage Succulents, does a phenomenal job finding the perfect vintage and unique vessels to plant in. But even though real succulents are lower maintenance than other plants, they still do require care.
Faux succulents can look real and live succulents can often look faux! Faux succulents are super fun to pop into a container and bring to a friend, or even use as a no-maintenance centerpiece!
Just chose your container, add some floral foam, and stick your faux succulents right in!
We love this arrangement in a vintage cheese box from The Red Painted Cottage.
We have several faux succulent options in our online shop as well as fun vessels for you to choose from. We love these white Nest boxes as a sweet sentimental gift. You can fill them with faux succulents and share your thoughts with a friend or family member!
Faux greenery doesn't have to be succulents! We love using all types in our decor. This photo below, from Pinterest, showcases all types-including our beloved willow stems and faux sedum.
Here, you can see how I use dusty miller in my home. I love the light sage green color of this stem. We are currently sold out of dusty miller, but our lamb's ear harnesses the same soft color and bringing in the same subdued vibe!

There are some classic, tried and true, design staples you can use to add texture to any room.
Baskets
Not only do baskets provide a functional storage option to a room, they also add texture!
In the photo below, Mary from @selah.pines.farmhouse uses a basket in a very neutral vignette to add some texture and dimension.
Amanda, from @thefarmhousetouch on Instagram, uses baskets in this bedroom as a night stand-adding triple function as storage AND nightstand AND texture. High fives to Amanda!
You can almost always find baskets at Laurel Grove, below are two of the most popular baskets we currently have in stock! Click the image to check them out on our website.
Rugs
A rug is a staple in any room and really allows you to use something you need to gain a bit of added texture.
Natural material rugs, such as jute and sisal, always add great texture.
Even in this room with a completely neutral palette, the rug brings in some texture and variance in tones. To add texture with a rug, you aren't confined to the natural sisals and jutes though, you can always go with a wool or cotton that also has varied tones!
We have the ability to order thousands of rugs, so if you have something special in mind, just let us know and we will share our catalogues!
Textiles
Pillows and throws are also incredible for adding texture as well as that cozy hygge element!
This bedroom below from My Scandanavian Home hits all the textural boxes with that cozy knit pillow and linen duvet! She's also got a basket (check!) with the natural element of a fig tree (see next textural element category!).
With the cooler months coming, we've got some comfy pillows and throws hitting the floor to allow you to get your snuggle on. Our current favorites are these textured guys (click images for listing):
These fun throws are super soft and the poms on the fringed edges add just that little extra amount of texture.
Natural Elements
Adding natural elements is another surefire way to get that textural vibe going. In Mary's picture above, she added wheat stalks to her basket, Amanda has a sweet olive tree and white flower in her vignette.
In the photo below, Cindy from @thevintageroad on Instagram masters the neutral with texture game! She uses natural elements like a wreath, small plants, boxwood balls, and our mixed fall bush. On her shelves, you can also get a peek of texture with a basket and throws!
As always, all are welcome in our shop! We would be delighted to help you figure out how to add texture into your home design.
]]>This year we are kicking out the oranges and saying hello to blue, whites and greens!
Step 1: Anchor
Pick a large centerpiece to be the “anchor” for the rest of your mantel decor. This piece becomes the focal point of your mantlescape. Popular anchors include framed mantel mirrors, pieces of art and larger clocks. These pieces can be your anchor year round.
Step 2: Add Weights to the Sides
Pick a few objects with varied heights to add visual weight to each side of the anchor. These pieces are often shorter than your anchor. The objects on both sides don’t have to match perfectly, but they should complement one another.
We used a vintage seltzer bottle, along with a mason jar with a fall floral arrangement. Click on the link below to buy yours!
Step 3: Bring in Filler Items
Fill the empty areas of the mantel with small decorations, and let the pieces overlap to create depth and texture.

While these classic Halloween colors can be fun and tasteful-especially with young kids-neutrals and cooler colors offer a more transitional look that can last well beyond Halloween.
Liz Marie Galvin of LizMarieBlog stacked these lovely blue and white pumpkins on a classic silver vintage serving tray. A centerpiece like this adds a gorgeous, simple, neutral fall touch that can carry you right through the season!
We love this take on fall blues and greens that Kim from Sand & Sisal accomplished by bringing in some dried hydrangea in an ironstone pitcher - a classic summer-to-fall transitional staple.
We styled our Mixed Fall Bush, which has gorgeous muted blue and green florals and neutral pumpkins, here in a clear jar right beside our Vintage Seltzer Bottle. This bundle adds a perfect soft fall touch without being in-your-face fall.
Photo Cred: Style by Palmer
Janet Coon of ShabbyFuFu kept it very neutral with tan, white, and another classic silver serving tray (are we noticing a trend?!) in this photo. The wheat in the enamelware pitcher give this vignette a true harvest feel which allow longevity throughout the fall.
Neutral fall doesn't have to be limited to inside either! We totally love this stack of white pumpkins photographed by Karianne of Thistlewood Farms in a gorgeous urn. The soft green of the eucalyptus lends itself to a gorgeous transition between seasons and breaks up the bold dichotomy of the black urn and white pumpkins.
